Whatsapp - do we really need two BLUE check signs?

I'm not a big fan of the two blue check signs in whatsapp that tells you whether your message was read by your friends or family when you communicate via whatsapp

It defeats the whole purpose of instant messaging - no one is going to be constantly be able to read and respond to all our chats at any given time and the fact that whatsapp indeed tells you that your message was delivered and read by the other person and when you actually posed a question or something you were indeed waiting for a response, the other party was not responsible or conscious of your time to respond back with a message quickly specially on SOS messages or other time sensitive requests this can act like a big divider and create a mess out of your relationships.

This is like giving away customer information to other people without your permission. we all reserve the right to take our time to respond to emails or chats and that privacy should be respected. This is no different from whatsapp telling the person on the other end that the person scrolled through your messages, scrolled up, scrolled down, saw your contact, read your address, tried to click on your photo etc...leads to breach of privacy of one's information.

  1. I fully endorse the view that the double blue tick intrudes into the privacy of the receiver of the message.
